What about our signs?

We have tested our signs to select the best materials to make them with. Poly (methyl methacrylate) also known as Perspex is a resistant, lightweight plastic that has gained widespread use because of its ability to replace the glass. It is particularly used in different products for signs, sales displays, roof windows, lenses and screens. And also for demanding constructions such as windows in submarines and fibre optics in flat-screen TV's.

In general, glass is cheaper than perspex, it is more scratch-resistant and more easily recycled. Perspex, on the other hand, is stronger, more shatter-resistant and even more resistant to the elements and erosion than glass.

Choosing the right material for a window can be difficult. Perspex not only has a heat resistance and is more resistant to thermal shock than glass but also has a thermal movement of 8 times higher than glass. Acrylic has a higher impact strength than glass and does not shatter when exposed to high strains. Acrylic, for instance, is more tolerant of these forces and rather flexes than breaks. As well as being a 100% waterproof material, there is no need for any grouting with acrylic bathroom wall panels. The sleek surface of acrylic means it is extremely easy to clean too.

You can view our range of Frosted Acrylic Sheets also known as perspex equivalent. They are an ideal product to use outdoors as they are heat resistant. Many restaurants prefer to use acrylic crockery and glassware as it is durable, shatterproof and easy to clean. As it is synthetic, acrylic (i.e. Perspex) is easy to reuse and the best material to use outdoor.
